MYTH 01: Lung Cancer happens only to people who smoke

The major cause of lung cancer is smoking but also there is other cause for it like exposure to asbestos, radon, uranium, arsenic, genetic predisposition.

MYTH 02: There are no sign or symptoms of cancer

There are visible signs and symptoms for cancer depending on what kind of cancer you are suffering from. Eg: Symptoms like unexplained weight loss. An unexplained weight loss of 10 pounds or more may be the first sign of cancer. This happens most often with cancers of the pancreas, stomach, oesophagus (swallowing tube), or lung

MYTH 03: You cannot reduce your risk by taking precautionary measures

There are a lot of ways you can reduce your cancer risk. Avoiding Tobacco products, eating healthy, avoiding intravenous drugs, using sunscreen are some of the measures to take in to consideration.

MYTH 04: Cancer is genetic so nothing can be done about it

This is one of the biggest myths. Majority of the cases are because of environmental toxicity. Experts estimate that more than half of cancer diagnosed can be prevented. Less than 5% of all cancers have a genetic cause.

MYTH 05: Every abnormal growth is cancerous

Abnormal growth doesn’t always mean that it’s a cancer. Some growths do not have the ability to spread to other parts of the body,these are termed as “BENIGN”. If not causing any problem, they can remain untreated. If it creates problem then it can be removed surgically.
